The Victorian straight-seam corset is cut with shaped pieces without bust or hip gores. This is a comfortable corset, with a very sharply defined waist, and fairly easy waist reduction potential. It can be suitable for most periods of the Victorian era, although hip and bust gore corsets are more suitable for the natural form era and to wear under cuirass bodices. Good fabric choices for this corset are cotton coutil, cotton sateen, satin, brocade, silk dupioni or some types of linen. Not all of those are suitable for a period-correct corset, but I can advise on the best period fabrics for corsets if that is a concern for you. Choices such as brocaded or satin coutil, silk satin or silk brocade are going to cost extra (please see the price list below). Extras can include lace or flossing, or extra-wide or gold studded busks. If you want some decoration on your corset that is not described here please email me for a quote. Shipping and handling (including insurance) is $14 for the 48 continuous US states. Illinois residents must pay 9% sales tax. I will ship worldwide - please email me for a quote.
