The Ribbon corset is a very lightweight and pretty under-bust corset made primarily of wide satin ribbon strips.  It has a short steel busk in the front and lacing at the back, and then boning at the side, and boning at the back.  The Ribbon corset was popular around 1900.  It does not provide the same level of support as any of the the mid-bust corsets, but is a very feminine and unusual waist-cincher.  It is not suitable for more than an inch or two of waist reduction.

Shown in ivory satin ribbon with a large bow at center front.  The front, side and back sections are lined and boned, but the connecting sections are constructed only of strips of ribbon.

The only choice for this corset is satin ribbon, and the price given is for synthetic satin ribbon, as that is the only type of ribbon commonly available.  I have not found a consistent source of silk satin ribbon that is wide enough.  Sometimes vintage silk ribbon can be found, but this can't be guaranteed.  If you would like one of these corsets made with silk ribbon please email me first and I will try to source the ribbon and give a specific quote.
