The Cuirass corset is perfect for wearing under cuirass bodices and for the natural form era.  It can be worn under any bustle era bodice, and from the 1860s onwards until about 1890.  It is a hip and bust gore corset, and is very controlling throughout the whole waist and hip area.  It is a little longer than the other standard corset styles, and creates the perfect smooth silhouette for wearing under the very tight bodices of the Victorian era.

Shown in white cotton coutil with bone flossing and custom embroidery on the bust gores.  There is white cotton English lace along the top with ribbon threaded through for a drawstring effect at the top.

Good fabric choices for this corset are cotton coutil, cotton sateen, satin, brocade, silk dupioni or some types of linen.  Not all of those are suitable for a period-correct corset, but I can advise on the best period fabrics for corsets if that is a concern for you.  Choices such as brocaded or satin coutil, silk satin or silk brocade are going to cost extra (please see the price list below).
